Basic anatomy tips

Description

For more realistic drawings, It is important to measure the character in head lengths and an adult human is around 6-8 head lengths unless otherwise, but I personally just eyeball it.

Shoulders are wider than the head... To an extent. If widened too much the head could look to small.

The elbow of the arms are adjacent to the waist and hands end adjacent to the thighs. Both the forearm and the back arm are the same length.

The legs actually take up half of the body and both halves of the legs are equal to each other.

For the face its important to keep enough forehead space for possible hair and/or so the character looks like they actually have a forehead.

The eyes must not be spaced to far out or to close in.

The ears are aliened with the eyes, so make sure your character's ears are not on their necks.

Quick tips:
Always start out with your basic shapes, from circles to triangles and squares, heck even lines.

If you want to make sure your anatomy of your characters look right, go around and ask a couple of people. Sometimes peoples opinions can help you improve faster! Who knew.

If you feel confident enough with basic anatomy, try exaggerating certain things of the body to fit the more cartoony look. Finding that balance when exaggerating features can be quite a task, but if you stick with these basic anatomy tips you should be fine.

If there is anything I should add, please comment it down below. (I learned most of these from my theatre/Art teachers, which are very strict when it comes to artwork. Guess that's how I learned so fast, though I am not the best at it either.)
I'll post other things like this, whether it be, how to draw hands, the differences between female and male bodies, female/male body/face types, etc.

It doesn't have to be human drawing tutorials, I learned animal anatomy too, and so on an so forth. Hope this helps you in the long run. :) Keep up the good work!)Underswap Sans Icon
